Are you seriously trying to deny that batman rays are deformed. If anyone is beating around the bush it's you.
You use dogs as an example. If you compare them to wolf's then yes they are seriously deformed. If you know anything about domestic dogs you would know that many breeds of dog have health issues like weak joints, breathing difficulties and so on. All of which are genetic. Domestic dogs have become acceptable. Personally I wouldn't like deformed rays to become acceptable.
Why do you hold koi and goldfish breeders in such high regard. They are in the same league as flowerhorn and parrot cichlid breeders. These are your real nazi's. They control the breeding of an animal to gain traits they believe are desirable. There's nothing NAZI about letting nature take it's course.
Do you seriously want a "freak" in the stingray hobby like flowerhorn's and parrot cichlids.
The name of this forum speaks for itself. The word
MONSTER already tell us what kind of fish we like, and here we are discussing intolerance against what is freakish or deformed? By god. What Irony.
In the real world, I am 100% certain that in a poll of fish keepers & non fish keepers in any country, (Goldfish/Koi/parrot vs any of the more devilishly looking monsterfishes), The Koi/goldfish/parrot would come out as less freaky or deformed because they are mainstream.
The danger of surrounding yourself with a minority hobby with extreme taste, is that you fail to see the big picture. The simple truth is that Monster fish keeping is extreme and non mainstream. That is why we like it so much.
But trying to impose your value system on the entire aquatic world is rude, intolerant and arrogant.
There is no way you could convince any cute pure bred dog owners or koi/LH/Gold fish breeders/hobbyist that their pets are deformed monstrous freaks compared to our dangerous looking ATFs, pacman cats or stingrays.
I preach a live and let live motto. I believe there is a place in the aquatic hobbyist world for all sorts. The only type of man made fish I am against are those involving cruelty, like injected dyes and fish surgery.
I personally don't support most dog breeds with inherent 'defects' like short life spans, breathing difficulties, bone problems. (I've done my research on that and an know of most defects of most breeds) I do so by not buying any of those breeds and adopting a mongrel.
But when I see an owner walking any of these breed, I don't go saying "Do you want freak like a bulldog in the dog world!" or "Deformed Mutt!" or any other ways of trying to forcing the 'truth' down the owner's throat.
I pat them. Say "Nice dog". Smile to the owner, and be on my merry way.
