Because he disobeyed police orders and his actions led to the death of another person. I agree he should not have been charged with murder but he should be held accountable for his actions. It wasn't his job to hunt down "suspicious characters." anybody who doesn't believe he is guilty of manslauter should read into the neighborhood watch program. That being said IMO Martin is no saint and was no child. There is no perfect outcome here. Either way people will be upset. That being said there is no evidence and burden of proof falls on the prosecution, and they obviously didn't do enough. Can we please leave race out of this discussion?
The prosecution did what they were legally permitted to do and honestly did a fine job. The evidence needed to convince the six jurors just wasn't there.
And he didn't disobey police orders, a dispatcher told him he didn't need to follow.
