100% agree...still doesn't change the fact that justice may or may not have been served, the LAW CERTAINLY HAD IT'S DAY
Apples and donuts. A security guard is a paid professional guarding a specific area. Z was a neighborhood watch person wandering his residence on his way to the store(his story). If a security guard stops and questions a person first and foremost you are most likely somewhere you don't belong. Second he will identify himself. What of that applies to what happened.?
Again, speculation on your part based on the very biased statement of the accused.
That wasn't a personal slam. The evidence suggests that at the moment of the shooting Zimmerman had a reasonable fear of death or serious bodily injury and had no other means to prevent it. Everything before that is inconsequential to the verdict unless Zimmerman confronted Martin and threatened harm with his firearm but there's no evidence of that.

Since this is turning into a opinion vs. opinion spouted as fact I'm checking out of it before it explodes.
MY ONE POINT , ALMOST ALWAYS ignored what if tm had a gun then chased z down and shot him...do you really think "stand your ground "would have been applied .....? my guess is it would have been called a "gang related" crime,,,, and there seems to be a lot of veiled racism all across America these days, NOT JUST IN THIS THREAD... some of it very thinly veiled(see tea party and anti immigrant activists)
All i see is an increasing descent into barbarism, cause by people's panic of everything. It will only get worse.
A young lad ( for me a child ) was shot to death by an armed vigilante who was following him and got a deserved beating.
Such vigilante not beinh man enough resorted to a gun he was allowed to carry on himself and cowardly shot the kid.
As some guy said, it may be that the prosecution failed its job, or in any case that the system worked, but not justice in my opinion.
If it was my boy, this vigilante would be a goner, speaking of barbarism.

Not all security guards are professionals. Anyone can be a security guard. Security firms hire regular people all the time to guard parking lots business at night. Zimmerman had all the legal permits to carry a firearm. He was well known in his neightborhood as the night watchman he volunteered to do. Just because he was not being paid does not make him not a security person. How do we know Zimmerman didn't identify himself. Did he have time to before Treyvon started beating his butt. Just because we don't know we can't make it up. We have to go with what facts we have.
