I currently have 12 discus from 3 and a half to 6 inches in with my pair of motoros, the boy is 6in. and the girl 7in. and I have never seen any aggression what so ever. The discus eat black worms off there backs, and I had to pull one for pecking at my females eyes. I guess every ray is different, but I have never had any problems. The discus and rays together look stunning as well.
What fish have your rays killed?

I'm assuming that all of you have larger breeds of rays. How many have had retics or hystrix that have gone after fish?

I have my male retic is a freaking monster! He will grab and eat anything he can get ahold of!

How large is he? By monster I assume his hunger to go after anything not size?

He is about 9" across and yes you are correct he eats so much but he loves to catch live foods!

I'm curious how a pair of hystrix will do. I'm in the process of setting up a tank for some. How large of a fish have they gotten?

My old male hystrix was about 7" disc when it ate a 5-6" royal clown knife. I am not sure if it killed it or if my vatf did. In the end the rck was missing and the vatf/ray had full bellies. There was nothing left of the knife.

He has eaten a 6" pbass hahaha. I know it was him because the female was far to small to do it.

They don't have to be adult breeders. One of my female blacks was 6" when she trapped my VATF and had him cloaked. Luckily I walked into the room and noticed him missing. After searching I seen her umbrella with a tail sticking out. Had to reach in a literally force her to let go. To this day he is wary about staying at bottom, just long enough to scoop food of there.
