Wc Oscars at Petco ? Wow
Wondering if they are getting them from Segrest Farms? They do list common and wild oscar in their catalog.

My local Petco has had things like lemon oscars and ropefish. I guess it just depends on the manager at the store.

Idk small Oscars are so similar at those sizes they look almost identical to me. If you reversed those pics I would be able to tell the difference

Yeah hard to distinguish at those sizes. I think if Petco orders from Segrest they should be able to get certain fish. pescado209 pescado209 Avatar pic does look like it could be a common or wild even if from Petco.

Yeah I have no problem admitting that I could not tell the difference

Update without pics. The little ones decided to be bold and started surface feeding. I have not had little fish in a while and had to buy food in their size. I bought a little can of the fluval bug bites cichlid granules. They really liked it and have full little tummies. Here is where the growth will start happening.

To me this looks like the same fish just different sides....the markings on the dorsal fins just look similar...

Polyaddict86 Polyaddict86 brought up potential size of wild Oscars and made me think, whatever happened to the really BIG Oscars?

Growing up and raising fish in the 80's I remember seeing Oscars that were BIG. It was not that strange to see a 14" Oscar. Now days it seems they get anywhere from 10"-12". Is this due to breeding Oscars to stay small? All the books say up to 18" but has anyone ever seen an 18" Oscar?

I know there is this old pic of an Oscar basically touching front to back glass and it was said that it was in an 18" wide 75 gallon tank.....

So where have all the BIG Oscars gone and what size do you think the wild Columbia Oscars will hit?
