    Turquoise Rainbowfish Ailment

I would greatly appreciate it if you helped me diagnose my fish. For some time now, two of my four turquoise rainbowfish has been swimming strangely, with their body at a roughly 30 degree angle above the normal, head over tail. In addition, they have some strange blue streakage originating at...

    Glofish

I see nothing wrong in hybridization and gene injection, but I just don't like Glofish. To be honest, I believe, they are a ploy to get people into the hobby who shouldn't really be into the hobby. I can assure you the vast majority of Glofish's customers are children, and few children...

    Help! Golden Clown Has Lump

I haven't had any experience, but I'm sure that you'd get more responses if you posted a picture.

    Yes, it's ugly. ^_^

Nice tank, I like how it's coming along. I was honestly about to say the same thing. Not only will it get too big for the tank, but it'll batter the cories, zebrafish, and otos.

    Tankmates

I'm assuming BKF means "black ghost knifefish". You can't keep a clown knife in a 75 long-term. They can easily reach sizes of over twenty inches. If you intend on using the 75 as a grow out, then you can disregard this. On the other hand, clown loaches and angelfish will be fine with a BGK...

    BGK with african cichlids

Water parameters shouldn't be a big deal, as long as you make sure that when you put the BGK in it isn't undergoing a huge pH change. My brother's had a mixed South-American/African cichlid tank that's been going fine for about a year now. I think your main issue is aggression. Will your...

    i hate this so much

Yeah, knowing the exact kind of filter is much more important than knowing how many of them you have. You could have two filters, each rated for only one gallon, on a 55...which is a good way to both suffocate your fish and foul them at the same time.

    Clown knife Vs. Senegal Bichir

It depends on the individual. Ask the seller if the knife has ever shown any aggressive behavior, and how it normally acts.

Conflicted on CK and Tank Size

The tank size minimum is...the biggest you can afford.

Breeding pair Black Ghost Knife Fish, should I get them?

So, this person says that he has a group of ghost knifes that are known to breed, not that he has a group that could breed? If so, I'd jump on it. However, if it's the contrary, I'd only buy it if you want the fish themselves, as they are unlikely to breed in captivity.

    BGK with fancy goldfish?

I'm fairly sure keeping BGKs at 75 degrees for an extended period of time would be hazardous to their health. However, the pairing itself would work without any bullying.

    Real simple question

I'm not an expert on the subject, but honestly, I don't think they work that fast. The test should tell you the correct ammonia levels, which should be decreasing.

African Brown Knifes eat small fishes don't they?

I believe I had this arrangement for some time, and it worked until my bichir decided to snarf my loach.

Can a zebra knife go with my ghost knife?

The BGK will probably end up beating up the zebra--they don't like other fish that are black or knife-like.

    African Brown Knife - Feeding?

I feed mine bloodworms, brine shrimp, and flakes.

    Glass knifefish

If I'm correct, blue acaras are aggressive cichlids. Glass knifefish are fairly tender--a fish of that temperament could shred one to pieces, easy. I lost mine from an angelfish that went bonkers. On the other hand, african black knifes are much tougher, and even more readily available. One...

125 Gallon in Upstairs Apartment. Weight Issue?

Honestly, I think you'd get the best advice from a carpenter, but, being as that's not an option in the timeframe, I recommend you read http://www.nachi.org/forum/f23/do-put-aquarium-22264/.

    Knifefish for fry control?

I'd be worried about that bichir getting too big and killing some of your cichlids. I had a senegal that murdered a 4 inch iridescent shark when it was only 7 inches. An African knifefish might work in your setup if you get it big enough, like 6 inches.
