IMO At 4” they will grow up together and learn each other’s ways. By the time you have a large flower horn you will also have substantial botia.
Every variety of Botia Loach that I've kept were snail eaters. Haven't kept Clowns, but pretty good chance they like escargot too.
Depends what you mean by “keep”.
yes you can put some in but don’t put in anything you want to keep. The botia as mentioned will love making you lots of empty shells.
They would love them in their diet, right? Meaning.. There won't be snails infestation in the future
I'd like to add that sometimes Botia can be too preoccupied fighting their schoolmates over a snail to actually eat it (at least this is what I have seen when I feed my clown loaches snails 1-3 at a time)!
But other than that, as long as there are enough snails for the Botia to focus on eating instead of fighting each other for, they'll be reduced to empty shells very shortly as mentioned.
