Ick parasites laugh off 2 lbs of salt per 100 gallons.
There is not enough osmotic pressure in such a relatively wimpy concentration to lyse the newly emerging ick
I always use 3lbs + to raise salinity to at least 3 ppt (parts per thousand)(the ocean is 35 ppt), goldfish and common Plecos can easily handle 3 ppt.
I also do "not" raise temp, unless the "tropical" fish can take it, and raising the temp does not kill ick.
I agree raising the temp will speed up the ick life cycle, so meds have a better chance to work, but it also promotes bacterial growth, that easily takes hold and infect the lesions the ick spots cause.
But even with a raised temp, it can take "weeks" to rid a tank of ick, it does not often get cured over night.
