DON'T buy Marineland Stealth Pro heaters!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I agree about the Ebo-Jager's. I had one back home in a 55 and that thing was a tank. Had africans in the tank always moving gravel around and smashing stuff into it, but it never failed or even left stray current. I trust that way more than any of my other brands.

It's funny...I've NEVER had any issues with my Stealths. On the other hand, my Jager Heaters crap out in just about a year. Makes me wonder...maintenance-wise, what are you guys doing to it? Do you unplug during water changes, constantly changing the temperature, Moving location, etc?

Damn, now i'm scared after reading this thread.. My Old Stealth (made in Italy) just crapped out and was gonna call for a replacement, and not sure i even want a new one with worse issues than mine had.. :( Maybe i should just drop the $40+ on a new Ebo-Jagar..

I do unplug my ebo's during water changes. never touch the temp dial. just set it once and forget it.

I have a 100w ebo that is 12 years old and counting. it was the first generation after the green ones.

my 200w on my 65 is 5 years old and still accurate as ever.

perhaps you got some from a bad batch?? highly unusual for Ebo's to fail like that. they are famous for lasting forever.

unfortunately, the Stealths seem to be developing a reputation for failure:(.

I wasnt aware of any problems with these. I have a small marineland stealth in a 29 gallon and it has worked perfectly. After reading all this I will be replacing it as soon as I can. :irked:

Im so glad others choose and depend on EboJagers like me. I am using 5 of them now! I also do still have my Italian made stealth heater and it did also fail on me. It didnt blow up or anything like that it just shut down and did not get hot anymore. But since there is no led light on it. I was unaware it broke and almost killed my fishes of cold water. Ebo-Jager all the way my friends.

I've had 3 Stealths that I've been using since 2006 and still running. I kept hearing how good Jagers are so I decided to replace them and ended up back with the Stealths after 3 months on 2 of the Jager. About 2 years ago, I decided to give Jager another change and it ended up getting stuck and cooking all my fish. Sucks to hear about all these Stealths malfunctions. So I'm trying to see if there is a correlation between all these failures.

I have to admit that I do not unplug my heaters. I do rely on the auto shut off when the water level gets low. I've never adjusted the temperature. The only time I unplug my heaters is during the summer months.

Sounds to me like its time for a major boycott of marineland stealth heaters. i personally have three at home that i will be replacing this upcoming weekend!!!!!! seems like there is no good news out there about these things but plenty about them exploding.... go titanium model heaters....

i had my stealth for less then a week before it split open. i had the temp set to 86 for 1 day, the next morning it was split open. im still using another one that i have but its only set at 80 and it sits inside a sump
