One of the things I found fascinating about Fossorochromis was their ability to disappear, by diving head first into sand substrate, and remaining motionless below a few inches of it.
In nature they hunt over large sandy under water plains with beds of vallisneria type plants, and when danger approaches, and entire school can virtually disappear into that sand..
Because I used PFSand in their tank with a very open type decor (very few rocks), mine would do the same if startled them, and the tank would appear empty until they decided it was safe to come out again.
