Well I read 3 articles that says just the opposite and then there’s just more blue color appears randomly….. so I gave it the name Jessie either way gender neutral I vented it 3 times LOL ? I couldn’t figure it out I was shaking photos are bad here take a look 2/3 breeders say female ?nor to I trust my source I come here for the Facts!!!
Keep in mind that I am shaking like a leaf on a tree in a storm and then I am taking the photos as well!! I have never done but with lil 3” African cichlids!!!! So keep in mind I am shaking there’s a pink spot right next to the white one and honestly the shape of it idk ?man !!!! I have struggled with this and then given up!! So yea …. She killed a BA tetra btw but did not eat it

its all good, I wouldn’t recommend doing that too much for pics since it stresses the fish out. Like

Males have a lot less blue around the gills and face, but a lot more color on the body and fins.
And since it’s most likely the dominant fish in that tank it’ll color up a lot, so you wouldn’t have it showing washed up colors, which would make it harder to tell the sex.
