The bearding is male to me (but not 100% sure), but don’t only females have a head with a profile like that? And it’s a bit fatter.
I’m guessing female?

Your 100% correct my final vent with out shaking, just having my husband here made all the difference I was extremely calm I can say without a doubt that I have a female Dempsey I said I would keep everyone updated and I am!! So yea the vent is larger then the anal area and they are side by side I mean everything screamed female my husband even read up and then looked at several images for a 2nd confirmation as well he has been with me through all my fish keeping and actually has helped me as far as the cycle and gender and many other things and we both saw plain as day that my JD is a F without a doubt I am just so happy to put this to rest!!! Something’s may not be fully developed yet with her could be simple like poor genetics but she is definitely getting more blue along the jaw line!!!

Ok now my update I said I would give……
So today I was extremely calm with my husband by my side and this being something I needed to do without shaking and that challenge was completed!!!!! No shaking hands extremely calm and I can say with out a doubt my husband agrees with me that it’s a F vent!!!!!
So this is a well learned lesson that when getting a fish like a JD at 6” with possibly poor genetics ? can be a tricky gender!! Everyone said male then Female and I did Not give up!! I am glad I did not and I am actually happy with the outcome!!! Jessie is her name and chasing tetras is her game!! LOL ? I love making up jingles!! Anyway looking forward to seeing your pictures and that is my update I said I would give!!!!

O that’s definitely a female… I had to vent to verify but here’s mine she’s exactly 6” she’s a rescue!!! Her name is Jessie !! But yea you have a female mine it was hard to say…… I have other photos better of the vent on other device so still working on getting those ones to my phone basically there is no large gap both holes are close and mine if your looking in person is definitely a female my photo is off due to I was doing everything solo and my hands were shaking so so bad! LOL but I redid like I said before and that there is a female everyone says male but vents don’t lie!!

Keep trying, a big jd like that can go a while without food. Monitor for lethargy, white stringy poo, or getting too thin.

I love the name!

Thank you it was gender neutral called her X at first LOL ? she quickly became Jessie named after my mother’s nickname she went by!!! And this fish definitely has changed my life sometimes it feels like I have a new puppy LOL ?!!!! She’s also a drama Queen but tomorrow she gets new decorations and plants LOL ? we will see if she likes them!!
