Going to get red tail barracuda

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
AHHHHHHH. Whilst cleaning my tank one of my barracudas jumped out! He looks ok, but his tail has white on it! I'm scared that this is fin rot. Is this possible? Will it go away on its own? Help me MFK, You're our only hope!

Since it just happened watch him for a few days. And you might add some salt to the tank. Since you have a baby whale I would add 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons of water. Salt helps heal minor wounds and abrazions by increasing the fish's natural slime coat. Which is there protective layer, like our skin.

If you notice that it is spreading and starting to consume the fin. At that point you should remove the fish and place it in a hospital tank and treat with antibiotics. I prefer maracyn and maracyn2 combined. And treat for a minimum of 5 days. For small fish a 5g bucket will work, just add a heater and a air stone and a cover of some sort. And do daily 30% water changes on the bucket using the fishes tank water. add antibiotics back after every water change.

Good luck

Nah man no expert. I have just killed my fair share of them so i have been thru most scenario's a few times. LOL

I suppose Isalinea does stay small. From what I read there are a few people that have kept them for yrs and they never went over about 4" in length.
