Good luck to all

Hello; You are of the moderator group. Can you comment on the notions stated in this thread that that some members will cause another member to be "slamed beyond belief" and that "this is a monster fish forum and a monster fish includes a MONSTER TANK!!". This is not the only thread where these two things in particular and other somewhat similar rude or insulting statements have been made. These negative example are not rare nor uncommon on this forum.
My question is what is the policy of the people, including yourself, running this forum with regard to the slamming, insulting and other offensive language sometimes found on the forum? I know that you cannot read each of the many posts each day, but what do you and the other moderators intend to do when you find this sort of thing or have it pointed out to you? You are the first moderator to show up on this thread, so you get the question.
May I also ask how a member is to "... weed them out.. make it fun.. " once he/she has been slammed or insulted?? I have had both done to me several times and it is in no way fun. I try to not respond in kind, but it is bothersome. I would not allow someone to insult me to my face without some sort of recourse. I know how to take it as I was a public school teacher and was forced to. I do not allow personal insults in my face to face private life and took all measures allowed when insulted in my teaching career. I witnessed the result when standards were relaxed in the public schools, I do seriously hope that you do not wish that sort of atmosphere become common on this forum.
This thread is about a member leaving the forum due to some sort of insult. Again I ask what is the policy of the moderators? Are we to have a verbal free for all? Can I and others expect that members who are insulting or take part in "slamming" be banned or in some other way be stopped from posting such offensive language??

Hello; So far no additional response from the moderators other that the one from Red Devil already cited. Other members, in addition to myself, seem to be posting along similar line. Perhaps we will get some guidance at some point.

they'll be back..
@Dylz, LOL... like a Sci-Fi!

@alexanian: yeah, ppl should not be made to regret asking any question. at all. young or old (I'm a grandma) It's easier on our fish and wallets to learn from others.
There wasn't even an internet back when I started killing fish. LOL.
Belittling remarks about 'newbies' can sure choke off the question-asking.
Searching the 'net repeatedly, it didn't take long to figure out that I kept getting referred to MFK. It's a one-stop answer place.

skjl47, there are so many posts every day! Mods can't/don't read them all. to get answers from them, you'd have to send msgs directly. go to main forum and look, there are directions for that. Big forums are no easy task.

PS, click FORUM and go to FORUM INFO section... if needed.

Since I joined this forum I've seen a number of members leaving because of the WAY they were talked to, or making posts complaining about it. I agree that there should be no excuse to verbally assaulting someone no matter what they stated or whatever way they keep their fish. Give ur oppinion and advice if u like, in a polite manner.
I suggest that a button banning a certain member from ever replying on ones threads is to be incorporated in to the site. That way an offensive member will be in time excluded with the majority of bans to reply to other members threads.
We all made mistakes when we were starting out and I'm pretty sure almost everyone makes a mistake from time to time. Like it was said before there are kids joining this site, starting out and they get chased off with rude replies. I urge the moderators of this site to consider a " ban this member from replying to my threads" button

Its called the "ignore" function, that is what adults do when someone is annoying.

Hello; I did send a message about this thread in an e-mail several days ago. I sent an orginal message about some bothersome comments in a different thread before that. The moderators sent me an e-mail saying they will look into it last monday the 13th. I used reply to send an additional message about this particular thread. Red Devil, a moderator, has since posted on this thread once several days ago. I have been waiting for a while. I will continue to wait.

Hello; I have ignored a number of offensive posts. I often do not participate in threads when the slammers have already made their negative comments. I got involved in a thread several days ago when I felt a member was being given the wrong advice about silicone. When I questioned if silicone II was safe, The member slammed me in a response. I do not see why we should be expected to put up with uncivil posts. I hope the moderators take what action they can and I also hope that being told to ignore rude comments is not one of their choices.

Hello; I have ignored a number of offensive posts.................. I hope the moderators take what action they can and I also hope that being told to ignore rude comments is not one of their choices.

I think you don't understand: When someone recommends using the "ignore" function, they don't mean "just ignore people who annoy you". That is a literal forum TOOL/choice which members can implement.
So, someone who just grates on your nerves, you click on IGNORE, and you no longer even see their posts when you are logged on here. They disappear, but only to you.
It's like a comfort-zone button that no one even knows you're using. Voila!
I'd like to have a magic wand that'd make certain actions invisible *to me* everywhere in the world. but no chance. To get that, you've gotta come here and get really aggravated first. then someone tells you. (I think our fortitude is being tested)

Hello; You were correct, I did not know about the ignore function. I will look for it.
