Growing up blue

Hang in there! It’ll happen! Let us know if you want to accelerate the process!
Thanks yankee jack, I’m not in any rush. I still have some tanks to figure out. I have an empty 30g that I plan to make into a fry tank when I get the chance to clean it up. I’m also debating selling my 60g goldfish tank and goldfish...which I am not sure I am ready to part with them yet as I’ve had them for several years.

Might get another tank to replace the 60g goldfish tank when the spring fish auction happens in my area...

As for right now I’m just going to enjoy my little guys grow, I’d be pleased if I can get one of these guys into an adult. I’ve had EBJDs once before and had no luck with them.

I even hate the thought of re-homing some of the ebjds I have, everyday I have a new favourite hahah I’m so paranoid of them getting sick and losing them that every time they flinch I’m online looking up different dieseases

So I’m thinking all three EBJDs are males. All three of them try to chase each other away and sometimes they will line up together and swat each other with their tails (to see who is more powerful?) along with flaring their gills and showing bright colours.

I notice this behaviour more so when they are arguing over pieces of algae waffers (which they love, the only pellets they will eat so far)

It is really hard to know at this age. I can never tell my EBJDs apart until I see them spawning.

Updated pictures:

Here are a few updated pictures of all three EBJDs, pictures 1-6 are of The Little Rock mover, pictures 7-8 of the one I want to keep, and picture 9 is the runt.

I also lost the tiny male guppy, not sure if they ate him or if he big female guppy harassed him to death, either way there were no remains.

Also picked up two juvenile regular jd’s in hopes to get a female, and also have three molly fish. All five fish are in QT right now. decided after reading about jds natural habitat and inhabitants that I would go with Molly fish instead of the guppies for tank mates.

Great close ups!!!!! Hope you get a pair!!!
Thank you, they are pretty small so I don’t have many options except close ups haha

Also, I have been doing some reading and boy how long have you been in the game? I’ve seen some old posts from 2008 that had your name YankeeJack as a poster name, I only assumed it was you.

Also, is your current EBJDs the same line that you had back in 2008?

It's been a while. Lots of outcrosses since then.

At last I bit the proverbial bullet and spent the money on black sand from the LFS, not happy about the price but it was hard to find a black substitute and almost as hard to find just black sand...swapped out the old peppered sand for this lovely black and boy do the fish colours pop! I wish I had done it sooner.

The rocks are locally collected and the driftwood has been soaking for over a month!

Sorry it’s day time and I get some glares on the glass from the living room window.
