HAS THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA LOST IT'S MIND

Dude, you aren't going to get through to them. Rather than take 5 seconds to understand the threat that the pike face to CA's ecosystem it's much easier for them to simply bash us. Yeah, the Lake Davis situation is a shame, but it is out of DESPERATION that the lake has been repeatedly poisoned. You've pointed out that the threat is real and they choose to ignore you. It happens.

Ummm, not sure what time bass up there eats. But here, they eat all day long and all night long. You just got to find where they are shifted during different time of day.

As goes for pikes, same thing...

P.S. After the poisoning, they found thousands of pikes 40"+ and hundreds of pikes 40lbs+...might give you an idea how large they are here. In every fish species(and I'm sure everyone should know this too) the bigger they are, the more aggressive they tend to be.
with the talk of these giant pike did Cali not see the chance to make more money look at all the people that travel to wisconsin, MN, and Canada to catch a 40 + inch pike, let alone a 40 pounder. They should have left the pike thats all thats to it. I hope they come back as they did before so one day when i go to Cali bass fishing i can catch a monster pike.

Then learn how to live with these pikes, give up man. Its no use to get rid of these pikes its impossible and try to accepted that pike are here to stay. And i dont think the threat is real, as the salmon fishery are threatened from other reasons, not from these pikes as they are still in Davis Lake since 90's.

Learn to how get used to them as residents of Davis Lake. Just look at the people who live along with asian carps, they accepted them as residents and the aerial bowfishing was born.

Yes, many fisherman has travel to WI to fish for pikes, but keep this in mind...more people travel to davis to fish for trout than the people that travel to WI for pikes. Which one would you choose if you were a business man???

But as go for you, sounds ridiculous...but keep in mind that our environment contains everything that is in need for a predator that has nothing to stop them but big stripers(which will never exist in lakes besides 3 or 4 lakes only) and look how easy the bass thrive into the delta and simply took populate itself all over.

And with the people who live a long with the asian carps LOL! true, but that's river and it has nothing to deal with a carp eating other fishes, the carp has no way to go places that is so huge that will make them stick around for life like the threat of them escaping and running into the California Delta.
This is a lake with a man that is doing his business with many fisherman wanting to teach their kids how to fish and grow the hobby of fishing. And with pikes in it eating all the trouts and other game fish, when people are there to fish for something like let's say trout?...If Lake Davis is making a lot of money out of the pikes, I don't think there would be any complaints about it would it?
Same goes for every person out there, tell me if you'll complain about a single species that drove all the fisherman away from your lake, and you simply pay your bills for nothing without a red cent in your pocket as profit. If the business man complaint, then the entire fishing community will do so.

what are you talking about? more people go to WI. for pike then trout fishermen to lake davis. and most true trout fishing people fish streams or rivers not lakes ( excluding fishing lakes for lake trout and other large trout such as steelhead) you never here of people going to cali for trout fishing unless the fishing remote areas. Most people travel to cali to fish bass, sturgon, salmon. Most of the guys that fish in cali, in the trout lakes are locals. not many people travel to cali to go fish in cold weather for trout

So they want get rid of pike for just fishing for hatchery trout which dont even reproduce in the lake and have bad survival rates when released in the wild and is easy to catch? I see no sport in it. Hatchery trout tastes weird and have too many diseases than wild pike. If they dont want pike then GO DIFFERENT LAKE FOR SAKES!?! There are no way that California has only one lake. Pike are gamefish too and very popular. So i think that these people who complaining need to grow up and so are this business person too. Just quit complain about these pike, they are here to stay in California forever and you cant do anything about it....lets face these facts.

*sigh* what ever it is...you guys won't understand unless you fished Lake Davis and see for yourself, a cast...bam!!! a pike, a cast...bam!!! a pike, gets irritated after a while and they complain to the owner and the owner complain to the state. Well, probably have to wait for couple years when the pikes arrive back again, going to be a heck of another disaster.

but with that being said more people go to WI to fish for pikes than people go to lake davis, hehe...so that's like saying 100 people fly up to WI ea day to fish for pikes :p

oh, and there is tons of trout fisherman fishing for trout in streams up the foothills and sierra, and the infamous LAKE TAHOE. But it is just far to drive, your looking about an easy 3 hour drive just to go spend half a day fishing and 3 hour back. Get's very irritated and a lot of time wasting when you fish hardcore all season long non stop for every single year.

These lakes just happen to be closer, but if your talking about diseases in hatchery trout compare to wild, it all depends how certain hatchery takes care of their species...

i dont exact figures but i dont think 100 people fly to cali each day to fish for trout maybe 100 like a month.

also if a trout fisherman was traveling as far as cali from another state he would most likly be fishing the foothills and such, not these man made lakes

I guess your seeing it as the other way around, I ment Cali fisherman going to MI to fish for pikes :D
Oh by the way, most of these man made lakes trout...their trout are mostly private stocked, which means they breed their own strain of trout. Like the infamous Donaldson Trout here in California, not sure if you guys have any strain of these...but its a hybrid of steelhead and rainbow. When they release it into the lake, most of them average 5lbs after 2-3 years of raising it only, they grow super fast and couple thousands stocked reaching 10lbs.
Or Lake Pyrimid, with private stock of cutthroat commonly reaching up to 12lbs etc...very famous trout fishery lake here have their own private stock trout that will do 10X better than the fish and game hatchery trout. Davis is on the low end, but it still considered as one of the most popular lake to take kids to go fishing for hatchery trout in California.
But if you want to talk about one of the most true all pure natural lake in California...Clear Lake, I believe this lake was known to be the nation oldest lake. But then this lake is so old that it contains such high mercury :D:D:D

Oh, and there's a river here south of CA that I believe they stock rainbows near the 20lbs zone. Good trout fishery for both lakes and a river that I know that stocks trout??? :D:popcorn:
