Hello im new and got a few questions..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
as for right now about 5-10 gal of water a day is good
do this untill you are 100% that your take is cycled.
0 ammonia
0 nitrites
low nitrates
then change your wc plan as needed
keep checking your water params on a daily basis as you have a fairly small tank and you might be suprised at how fast the water fouls
you might have to keep doing a wc every day for a little longer than you thought

heh i have talked to a few people who have done this and it seems to work pretty well, but like you said before you were looking towards aesthetics when it came to a sump. and im not sure this would fit the bill aesthetically

i can see the heat from the bulbs building up KINDA being a little problem but not much if i placed under the tank stand but aside from that if it had good airflow couldnt i keep it under the tank stand with the doors closed? outta sight outta mind and doesnt look to bad?

just read the directionson the bottle but for small measurments i think its along the lines of each thread in the cap treats about 10 gal
i usually add a bit more then what is recomended, not much more, just a tad.

to the bucket then fill the bucket up then stir a minute then dump into the tank BUT todays wc was the first time i used the prime..

and what about the salt am i good on that?

i cant seem to find the thread for the DIY sump i kinda like the bin/drawer setup but cant find a thread that outlines the DIY part anyone know a link?

Don't over-do it on the water changes; that can re-start your nitrogen cycle. If you are having ammonia problems, only change 20% of the water, once a day (unless it is an emergency, I know it's hard but you have to let your tank cycle). Don't over-do it with prime, although I've never actually heard of a case of poisoning. Keep the tank at 3lbs/100 gallons of kosher salt, keep it dark and make a constant supply of food available (black worms are best in this case, because they don't quickly spoil). Post pics and updates, and I hope the little one pulls through.

im going to walk away from the rest of this but seriously you need to chill on the salt.... why does he need so much salt if there is nothing wrong with the ray???? 1 pound per 100 tonic 3 pounds is a treatment... come on dude....
