Need help. Any classic mustang lovers out there?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You could Always go Forced Induction and get a custom ground forced induction cam. also if you wanted to spray it a .526 cam depending on the tune you had and rear end ratio for the 9" would all depend on your duration on the cam, I see at least .299/.300 duration for that lift. the cam in that car would talk all the **** you needed to. that lift and duration would be about your "custom" nitrous cam for that motor with those mods. i'd also go with a semi high rise intake with at least a 700 cfm carb with that set-up and a 3000 stall for a automatic, a manual doesn't matter.

That would be pretty sick. Not sure I could do all that by myself lol.

Y'all got any input on his email? Think it sounds shady? What exactly is he talking about in the first part?

I asked for the vin# twice from this guy and he hasnt told me.

He said the vin is a t code. And that's it....

wtf does that mean? I NEED the vin!!

That sounds like a plan. lol

Here's what the dude just emailed me back saying. Anyone ever heard of this?

listen, my friend used a mechanic that can put a mechanics lien on the car, and you can get the title in 30 days, there is also a company called Broadway Title that gets titles for old cars, also either 30 or 45 days. Both cost about 300 or 400.. The car is near Miami now, my friends son can bring it over this weekend for you. If you decide to do this, I will sell the car to you for 2100, therefore the title would only be about 100, since I was asking 2300, and the car is worth every bit of that.
again, if you are serious, let me know, and this can be done this weekend
thanks

Very possible that he could do this for you. Sounds like the guy is trying to be on the up and up. But......I would talk deposit until you can verify everything. Better to lose a couple hundred buck ina deal than 2100. IMO

If it was me I would get the Death Sentence mustang. If he has some paperwork from the studio proving it. I think they made 3 and destroyed 1 ? This car has a big name behind it and gives instant bragging rights and you could take it as it sits to most car shows.

I used to buy and sell old cars. Ones without a title either it will go easy or it could end up a mess. I'm new to Fl. and don't know the title laws yet. But you have to ask why don't he have a title? He's asking 2100.00 for it so he knows it's worth something why wouldn't he spend the 400 himself get the title and get more $$ for the car. In my experience cars without titles either the people are clueless to what they have, They can't get a title , don't know how to get one or just don't care.

About 4 years ago I brought a javelin from a junk yard in Pa. with no title a guy brought it in that morning and gave it to them without a title. I gave him 500 for it figuring that at the worst I would have to part it out if I can't get the title. I sent out that morning for a Alabama pink slip (cost 200.00) that I could turn into a Pa. title. Long story short a lady showed up at my house and it turned out she and her husband are splitting up and he wanted to mess with her so he stole and junked her baby. I got all my money back and she got her car back.

I think you can end up screwed on this deal unless you could be happy with just a parts car.
If you are going to go threw with this tell him you need the vin now run it and see what you learn. If all looks good go and see the car.

Also are you sure you are up to fixing this car up? It's going to cost a lot of $$ and if you can do it yourself it's time consuming and can be a pain. I have picked up many project cars cheap because people lost interest. Good luck let me know what you end up with.

Here is a link with a basic code break down.

http://home.pon.net/hunnicutt/history_vin.htm

That is very helpful. thanks.

So when I need to register and insure the car, I will need the vin code off the car right? Or with classics like this, I just use that list and make the vin?

I'd love to get the death sentence car, but it's more than I can spend at the moment.:(

And I've asked him for the vin twice now. He's avoided telling it to me. Which either means it's stolen or was totaled and not easily insured. What are your thoughts?

I just emailed him back and told him I would love to buy the car, but I need to get the full vin before I can commit.

We'll see what he says...

Him refusing to tell you the vin # is a great big red flag!
Mechanics lien means the mechanic can take possesion of the car till you pay him what is owed him. This deal is sounding pretty shady.Sounds like this guy may be "stealing" his own car from the mechanics shop and unloading it quick before he gets caught.
