I’m looking to do this on my build. The inside will be lined with 3/4” plywood. On the front a slightly smaller piece of 1” plywood will be placed on top of the 3/4” sheet. This will give me a frame to place my front panel. The gap will be completely siliconed. I will be using 3/4 acrylic for my buildI feel the same way.
Do you think if I used 3/4" plywood like you and reversed the front panel so the outside overlapped the inside could I then inset the glass inside that inset? Glass 3/4" also. The glass would be "flush" with the inside walls.
