Peacock Bass Help

In the past Duanes has recommended 3 pounds of salt for 100 gallons (for ich and other problems). Apparently this salinity is way lower than what cichlids can take. I am also conservative so I have never used quite this much salt.
Using a chefs calculator, for 2.25lbs that would be 3.74 cups. BTW Duanes believes in weighing the salt.
38 teaspoons of table salt is about .8 cups.
So you may want to consider increasing the salt. Maybe twice as much? Mix in warm dechlorinated water and add gradually. Make sure you replenish when you change water. So try to monitor how much you are changing.
The salt helps reduce osmotic stress for the fish. Also with a stronger solution it will work better at warding off bacterial disease or fungus.

Bottom line is that I think you could increase the salt somewhat and that it will be beneficial. Keeping the temp lower than 80 helps prevent some bacterial diseases from flourishing.

So should I add right after I do a WC or right before? And can salt be combined with chemicals like Seachem
I would add after a water change. I always use Prime even if I am adding salt. That's fine. You don't have to be super gradual with the salt water going in the tank. When I did a big dose such as what Duanes suggested I did in a few increments. All done in 8 hours. If you do 1/2 that much salt I would say increments and all done in 3-4 hours. This is purely my idea and how I do it.

Looking at the recent photos I would probably do 2 cups of salt total for 75 gallons. Need to monitor closely along with whether it starts eating. Can't wait too long if it is disease that is setting in. Gotta see if its just the salt that's needed. Wish you had some stress guard.
If this doesn't seem to be making progress then possibly looking at diluting the salt down somewhat and using general cure.
If the fish starts eating that is half the battle.

It's hard to discern if the white is just on tissue damage from the catfish or if there is something else going on.

For future reference Tilapia alone won't give the fish all the nutrients and vitamins it needs. Need to get on pellets. The VitaChem will help a lot.

Just ordered some stress guard. Should be in tomorrow or the 22nd.

The white spots on its head looks like HiH. Big cichlids are prone to get it when stressed or bad water quality. You can use salt in the water i usually dose 3dl for 100L then you can order some meds to treat hexamita. Ive had great success with this treatment for HiH disease.
