An observation here for any smokers.
About a month ago when our lockdown ended and gyms reopened I decided to dramatically cut back on the cigarettes with the possibility of quitting completely sometime early next year. I was also restarting the gym with 3 or 4 solid weight sessions per week. I pretty much halved my usual smoking rate which had crept up a fair bit during lockdown and according to my fitbit my resting heart rate pretty quickly dropped by 5 BPM.
The last week due to end of work stress, christmas organisation stress and general fatigue, lack of will power and care my smoking went back to what it was and almost instantly the resting BPM went back to what it was too. I was surprised it happened so quickly, its a good illustration of how smoking must affect your heart. I knew it wasnt good but a bit shocked it happens so quickly.
Ive got xmas dinner with the wifes family tonight so I doubt today will be a day to cut back again but I will have to get the willpower back tomorrow.
Dont smoke kids......
