Just started a new job, I’m working in a welding shop however since I’m new I’m doing grunt work. Bending metal, moving metal, painting metal, etc. with the stuff I’m doing I won’t need to do any walking anymore I think since I’m moving 50-100 pound pieces of metal for ever all hours straight. Take a look at me. Also can someone tell me how my stomach and arm managed to get dirty through 2 layers of shirts?

Damn Brian, I just nearly choked to death on my cornflakes. The last thing I was expecting when I logged into my favourite fish forum this morning was you stood there with your under crackers on and a black belly! Jeesh!

If that crap is getting through your clothes i would be a little more concerned what's getting through your mask, and into your lungs!!

Under crackers, I’ve literally never heard that before, your Britishness is showing lol.

I realized why it got through, I leaned against and rested my arms on metal throughout the day and that’s how it got through. Still surprised it got through two layers though.

Well, here it is. I've been waiting for a nice clear night for a few days now and tonight was perfect. I went to my local track and did a flat 5k. In an earlier post I said i'd probably be around the 24 min mark. Not a bad guess as it turns out. Lol.

First kilometer was 4.35, then I had the next three at just under 5.00 each, finishing off with a final 4.40. It was hard work but with a bit more training I think I could possibly shave it down to 23 mins (ish).

A sub 20 mins, my original lofty target, is completely unattainable, my body simply can't deliver that level of performance. Even sub 22 mins is looking very unlikely.

But on the whole, i'm very happy with that 24.

Last year I did so much more excersize then here :( here I do 1 hour of tennis once a week and I run some times. in school we do no excersze now cause of the virus. We do meditation and yoga which sucks. In portugal I did: Tennis 3 days a week: for 5 hours, PE 3 days a week for an hour and a half, then running in the morning with my mom. Tennis classes where sooooo cheap there compared to here also. It was 25 bucks for a 2 hour lesson with great coaches! Here its 2-3 times the price :(

An observation here for any smokers.
About a month ago when our lockdown ended and gyms reopened I decided to dramatically cut back on the cigarettes with the possibility of quitting completely sometime early next year. I was also restarting the gym with 3 or 4 solid weight sessions per week. I pretty much halved my usual smoking rate which had crept up a fair bit during lockdown and according to my fitbit my resting heart rate pretty quickly dropped by 5 BPM.
The last week due to end of work stress, christmas organisation stress and general fatigue, lack of will power and care my smoking went back to what it was and almost instantly the resting BPM went back to what it was too. I was surprised it happened so quickly, its a good illustration of how smoking must affect your heart. I knew it wasnt good but a bit shocked it happens so quickly.
Ive got xmas dinner with the wifes family tonight so I doubt today will be a day to cut back again but I will have to get the willpower back tomorrow.
Dont smoke kids......

Well as some advice to someone young, I would say you cant blame a bad crowd for anyones decisions. Everyone has to take responsibility for themsalves, your cousin chose to smoke their first cigarette, exactly as I did. Here in Australia smoking is very frowned upon these days and smoking rates are dropping especially for young people. It still seems acceptable in Europe and its very very common in Asia I have seen.
Vapes look like the latest way to get young people hooked on nicotine, personally I dont like them. I have freinds who have switched from ciggies to vapes but I would rather quit nicotine for good, Probably will take more effort that way but at least I will come out the otherside totally clean.
