The MONSTER Fluval G series!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have just bought 2 g6 fluvals for my tank it 8x3x3 and have set them up it cost me £650 pound for both of them they let me off £50 as i bought to they look good and has a nice display but for that money i could of bought 5 fx5 fluvals for that so should i off just bought the fx5 instead as there both in a cuboard they make a strange noised when there running but at the moment not very in prest at all

For $500 it better have an arm with a UVC light that wipes and sanitizes my ass.

T1Kar....... ----> Point made above.

as i said ITS NOT ALL ABOUT FLOW RATE
Your right, its not, but on larger tanks, the flow rate of these filters will not be sufficient if you don't want to gravel/Sand vac your tank often.

if you have a 5000 lph hour pump on a 1 ft sump and the same pump on a 6x2x2 sump which would work better
Not enough information.

its not just the power of the pump that makes a good filter its a combo of many things
Right, including features which are important.

lots of discus keepers want big bio and mech filtration but dont want a big FX5 blowing the fish all over the place
Increase the ID size of the Output.....issue resolved.

the FX5 sold well because it was cheap if the 2080 was in the same price range it might have been a diffrent story
If the 2080 was in the same price range than the Fx5 would still be bought because of the increased flow. You can't put a 2080 on at large tank and think its going to perform mechanical filtration as good as the fx5.

Besides, I hear the 2080 sucks a mechanical filtration in general. If you want to make a statement, you should have said 2262 and not 2080.

Fishkeeping is more fun the less filter cleaning you need to do
the fx5 maybe good a mech filteraton but it's rubbish at bio filteration
you can run a 2080 for 6 month without cleaning I do it all the time you would be lucky to run a fx5 6 weeks before cleaning
lots of filter changes per year or just 2 I know which I would rather do

There has not been one test to show that the Fx5 is bad at bio filtration. Where did you get this? And don't bring up that comparison thread because that doesn't even state it.

My unmodded Fx5 could run for a year without cleaning. My modded fx5 can run just as long with fine filter pads.

The 2080 has a lot less flow so there is no doubt that the 2080 would last longer because it won't be able to pick up anything. lol

its not all about flow rate how many more times

this thread is not about trying to convince people the FX5 was a good filter its about the G

the FX5 is history move on

the new G is a work of art i cant stand fluval products but the G makes the FX5 look like something out of the dark ages

if all you can afford is a budget filter like the FX5 then thats life but dont try to convince people its the best filter on the planet because its not

Your funny. How was I or anyone trying to say the Fx5 is the best filter on the planet?

for the record, cleaning a filter does not destroy the beneficial bacteria if done properly.

when you clean a canister, you are removing the buildup of detritus in the sponges, around the biomaterial etc.

you don't remove the bacteria. they are stuck to the media. a rinse does not remove them, much like gravel vaccuming does not remove the bacteria that are coating the gravel.

since when was anything mentioned about what you just said

the cleaning coments were the time and hassle it takes to clean a filter nothing more
