The "Royal" Family (Galaxy P14)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I was wondering what they would look like if you crossed them with some of the non BD species. You see a lot of brown x BD and stuff around but I bet none of those started with parents of this quality. Cross these with your albino or some snow leopards and I wonder if what comes out. I want you to keep producing these p14 though, you need to produce enough pups that you'll consider selling some haha.

I agree with you and wonder about the potential appearance of hybrid. There is a breeder in Canada that has done some crosses between Royal p14 and snow leopards. Also Royal x snow x boesmani. I haven't seen them grown out but it sounds like they are stellar.

Here is the writeup from the stingray book I was referring to. My scanner is acting up so had to take a picture. Not that much is in English:

I feel like that p14 blood would need to be diluted a bit for the other species to show much. Your p14 line here looks like it would be pretty dominant. I was thinking mixing boes p14 and snow might be Overkill but he's probably breeding boes to snowxp14 in hopes to get some more patterns. This is how it goes in my head anyway, I have no idea what these guys would look in practice.

I'm unsure if there was originally a plan, or if they were all in the tanks together and the fish chose for themselves. I agree the mix without boes seems more desirable. Not bringing brown into the mix.

Albinos would be something neat also. Time will tell!

Spectacular ray Giar! Send some more over from Indonesia.

The breeder in Canada had some royals similar to ours with larger spots. He said the smallest spots broke up into 2-3 smaller spots when the rays were around 2.5-3 years old. That gave them the large and small spot combination as adults that they didn't have as juveniles.

The waiting game begins...

I agree brother. I believe these maybe be some of the first in the states. If all goes correctly, they'll be everywhere soon :)

Thanks CANAMONSTER CANAMONSTER ! They keep getting better

Thanks keepinfish keepinfish ! I am sure pleased!

There is some debate about them. They are said to be a rare p14 variant with larger and more numerous spots. Similar to how Black Diamond is to P13 leopoldi, Royal Galaxy is to P14 albimaculata. A unique variant of the same species. Others contend that's all marketing and say they are just really elite hybrids made through selective breeding projects.

I'm unsure to be honest. But that's okay. Because they look alrighttt to me my man!

You mean this one?
