**** happens, fish die... no need to get hot headed about it... I do this on a boat because I don't want to make a mess.. different story, however if I were on the shore.

a lot of people here do that. Ex would be they leave ladyfish on the pier to rot =[ so its bony and not the best fish to eat, then throw it back. get over it, they are there, they will be there, you will catch them and killing them is not going to help. Same thing with gar.

My bf, chompers and I were at wekiwa river fishing and the bf caught a nice bowfin (we LIKE bowfin and bowfin fishing, and no they dont hurt the bass population as bass thrive fine here with them.) and these guys kept saying "why dont you kill it" "give it a nice bonk on the head" and such and complained that they ate all the bass eggs. Yes thats why there are a lot of bass swimming in the river, b/c they ate all the eggs.

Those things annoy me.

I agree to kill for sake of killing is wrong no need for that. If you eat them fine .
I have caught many non natives and not 1 did I kill and never will.

Your lucky you seem to have lots of bowfin in your area of Florida . Here I have never caught nor seen any.
I dont have a boat thus fish from shore using chicken livers but only catch catfish .

Yah FL is good for non-native fish

Yes there is a lot of water here, and lots of connecting water ways so its pretty easy for any fish to spread through FL.

However what gets me is that many people think bowfin are FL non-natives, when in fact they are native to FL. They dont hurt bass popluations either, you see tons of bass where there are bowfin. Anyways we fish from the shore of my bf's lake and catch them =] We also rent canoes and fish for them. I catch them in the springs on live bait and in my bf's backyard I use rapala lures.

I do agree its stupid to kill a fish just to kill the fish. If your going to kill eat it, use it or dont kill it. Its not that hard. I've stated the rest of my feelings above =]

Still, its unwise to dump fish on the bank.

the only time this is an issue is in a place like Florida, where if you catch an exotic invasive species, like a tilapia or something...you're not supposed to realease it. Then the issue comes up, do you just kill it, because I sure as heck am not going to eat a tilapia or uro caught in the miami canals

if you se him do it again, go to a fish market and return with some huge frozen fish and throw them at him, see how he likes it to have dead fish all over the place!

That's why you do like midnight and use them as feeders!

Bottomfeeder, while you're still a child, age is not readily apparent on electronic fora. Act maturely. Surely you wouldn't throw frozen fish at someone putting fish on a pier or shore? If so, I will buy you the fish to throw at the fishermen at Coney Island. After a beating or two, maybe you'll learn what kind of behavior is to be expected.
