Weight training/Macros/General workouts

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's not too bad. I still get pain occasionally in my muscles around the ankle, but it's much better than the constant pain I had during activity before the op. They also put a titanium plate and screws in my foot as well
my ankle gives me loads of trouble, and my calf on that side cramps easily because its way weaker and smaller. Pretty terrible on leg day haha.

I haven't done any lift that includes overhead since November. It still doesn't feel right when I clean but I think I can get by with old person restrictions.
screw that, overhead presses are my life...love shoulder workouts lol.

hahahah story of my life lol

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I like my snatch as well as clean and jerk but when I can't get my arm near my head I don't think ohp will be that beneficial.

try it with kettly bells no where near the same but it may be doable since both arms aren't locked into one set position.

Here is my unsolicited advice/opinion:

I would wait until you build up strength to do anything loaded overhead. If you can't do OHP without pain, would not be doing snatches. I know it sucks technically being able to do something and being injured. But you want to be able to be moving for the long run.
Maybe try some of these to see if they help:

-Cleans should be okay with KBs.
-Band work overhead and raise variations might help.
-Would also suggest mobility work, band external rotation especially. Make sure you are not internally rotating when you swim or when you are doing lat pulldowns.
-VYTWs, with light weights.1-5lbs.
-pec/chest stretches

However, I am not a doctor, cannot diagnose, or prescribe, and do not know the extent of your situation. Would go see a physical therapist who has experience training athletes before you opt for surgery. If you recover properly, surgery might not be needed. Good luck!

I just stopped working out. It's easier to kick it back and have some rest time before surgery and then focus on recovery. I'm going to have to have the bone grinded down regardless and they need to pull the debris out so if I'm having all that done I might as well go all the way and be as good as new.

I don't want to do surgery but if I want to be competitive at a very high level in college I'm going to have to be as good as I can get. Unfortunately I think it's going to be necessary to have the surgery because of the natural recovery time without it just due to the cell types and blood flow to the area.

Sometimes surgery and taking a break is the right thing to do. :) proud of you for listening to your body and staying true to your goals.
