Sounds more like hoarding behavior than attempted predation, if you drop a marble in front of your crayfish he'll likely grab it and probably take it to his caveI've seen mine try eat a snail. One second I looked over and saw him on the glass. Minutes later he was upside down right in front of the crayfish's cave. My crayfish must have clawed him off the glass lol
Mine never ate theirs, I always left it in for a day or so just in case thoDoes your crayfish eat their molt? Mine has molted twice since I've had her. I read they eat it for calcium and to strengthen their shell. The first time she didn't eat it. Read online that if they don't eat it you need to remove it after 3-4 days so it doesn't turn to mush and mess up the water quality in the tank. So I took it out after day 4. 2nd molt comes around and same thing. Does she know to eat it? Did I mess up her system by removing it? I don't want her to not have enough calcium to molt properly. She eats calcium enriched food but is there anything else I can do for Calcium intake?
Thanks!I'm sure they eat it for calcium. If they dont need calcium they probably wont eat it. You are probably giving enough calcium in that case.
