I've seen mine try eat a snail. One second I looked over and saw him on the glass. Minutes later he was upside down right in front of the crayfish's cave. My crayfish must have clawed him off the glass lol
Sounds more like hoarding behavior than attempted predation, if you drop a marble in front of your crayfish he'll likely grab it and probably take it to his cave

Does your crayfish eat their molt? Mine has molted twice since I've had her. I read they eat it for calcium and to strengthen their shell. The first time she didn't eat it. Read online that if they don't eat it you need to remove it after 3-4 days so it doesn't turn to mush and mess up the water quality in the tank. So I took it out after day 4. 2nd molt comes around and same thing. Does she know to eat it? Did I mess up her system by removing it? I don't want her to not have enough calcium to molt properly. She eats calcium enriched food but is there anything else I can do for Calcium intake?

Alright crayfish crew! My Blu is pregnant again after her last molt. She must still have a sperm sack under her tail that she is pulling from when she is ready. They are brown like the last time so I think they are fertilized (I read yellow or white eggs means unfertilized). Her cycle started around the 16th I believe when I noticed inactivity and hiding. I noticed her begin burying and preparing her cave on the 18th so my guess is she is 1/3 to 1/2 way through. My question for ya'll is how do you feed her when she is hiding or do they just not eat during this time? Any tips would be greatly appreciated on how to make sure she has surviving babies. I want mini-crays!!!! Thanks!

I’m really not sure. I think I read that they just don’t eat during this time. If you want to try and drop a piece of food by her you could. Or use a long tongs.
I’ll be excited to see how it goes for you! Mine have yet to do anything other then mate. No eggs yet.

We just aren't having any luck. She got rid of the dark colored eggs once again 14 days after so I'm guessing she is producing unfertilized eggs and needs a male. I plan on adding iodine to the tank today and doing a water change to make sure the water is okay. Bummed dad over here wanting some cray babies.
