Wild ‘Columbia’ Oscars

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Biggeat one i saw was a 14”, i had some before that were only 9”-11”.
My Pearsei is 14" but very thick. So I can easily imagine an oscar of similar size since the build is similar. But I never see Oscar that big anymore.... I do see a lot at about 10" that get brought in to the local fish store. many of these have horrible hunchback and look pretty deformed too.

I also noticed the bigger oscar colors kinda fades, idk if its a cb thing tho.

The guys school together and look for each other. So tempted to keep all three if they continued the behavior. but I dont want that much bioload.

Fish come in and out of fashion, I think the last few years oscars haven't been widely kept by experienced keepers, so less about that have had the time and care to grow out some monsters.

wow weird picture issues.... when I looked at my post #84 the bottom three pics were not showing. It was too late to edit so I went and reposted those pics in post #87 and now the pics showed back up in the original post. lol

So the Oscars are all eating well and are coming to the surface to feed. I got them used to the Fluval Cichlid Bug Bites and they have had blood worms. The blood worm actually seem a bit large for them still so I will wait a few weeks to feed these again. I also purchase one package of frozen beef heart, I know not a recommended course to use regularly but I do believe at an early stage it does promote growth so I bought one small package to use and that will be it.
