oh no , you just said second and third gen. fish have more color, more sociable and easier to breed than true wild caught fish.
are you serious man , I'm done with your comments I discredit anything you say bro. Wild fish and there color cant be compared, and as far as breeding there the most active . all i can say is wow:eek:

Not to be starting anything, but WC fish are harder to breed. You sir, have never paired a fish yourself, you tried with some convicts, but I think that did not produce for you. You have purchased nice pre-paired fish and they have produced for you, congrats. Why do we care what you do for a living. If you cannot even write a sentence how do you do proposals? In emoticons?

Serously MOB you started out fine, asking questions and trying to learn. Then you bought up some fish, nice fish, and now you are the expert on all things cichlid. That is what diturbs me. I could care less about you and your fish.

Ira I hope your business propsers. I look forward to about two months from now when the MOB takes up paintballing or online gaming, or something else intellectual and vacates this board, and becomes some other board's expert. I doubt his attention span can maintain him here much longer.

I should probably stay out of this, but from my perspective your arguments are making all of you look discreditable and bad. I'm not sure whether I would buy from either of your suppliers if they have to result to insulting each other to promote themselves. Just my 2 cents.

Well that explains it. A union lackey with an iphone. No wonder you have SO MUCH TIME to post pics and troll the forum.

You do know that fishkeeping didnt start the day you got a tank right? And that people have been keeping fish for a long time, right?

and LMAO @:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL: the

"I own more fish than you too and I know more about them"

comment.

Yea, you win boy. After that comment, Im outta this convo.

To imply that a wild fish is any different than an F1 (or a well bred F5+ for that matter) is to simply misunderstand genetics. It is IMPOSSIBLE for a species to express genetics different from their parents in just one generation (with the rare exception of mutations).

There are some environmental factors that lead to the anecdotal, yet still erroneous, understanding of the "superiority" of wild fish. Chief among them: space, water quality, variety of nutritional sources, and exposure to sunlight. All of those factors can be replicated or neglected in captivity.

Regarding wild fish on farms in CA, I don't really care what people think they are. I just want to know the economics involved in their collection, distribution, etc.

Capefear, back to my LFS example. You are correct. They cram a bunch of large individuals into 75s and 125s and wonder why their mortality rate is so high. It would be easier to understand if I hadn't seen them do this for years. Part of me has to wonder if they even care about making money.

Many more, but let's leave it here.

So I think we should just all agree to disagree. Anybody I have offended I apologize. This thread is way out of control again happy fish keeping and have a good evening.

hey dogofar, my bottom line is that a wild fish isn't comparable to a second or third Gen fish, that's period:naughty:

When you state things as "generally understood fact" yet it is in contrast to the reality most experienced fishkeepers believe you really need to supply some supporting evidence. Even a basic understanding of genetics and/or biology would lead one to dispute your statement.

I'm not offering that as a challenge to your statement. Rather, it's an attempt to get you to understand how you may get some colorful responses from time to time!
