I was walking through my favourite and biggest LFS near me, excellent stock. Anyhoo, I was just browsing prices as I always do, and checking out the fish. As I walked past the saltwater section, I heard this little 6 year old kid with a huge frullet and a rats tail, say "Oh daddy, can I have this pointy fish (Talibar Lionfish) to go with my suckerfish and goldfish?" I just focused my hearing over there while looking at a nice selection of live rock and corals when the redneck dad say "Jack, this is a tropical tropical fish, they dont go with your ones Im afriad."
I smirked. Then the boy says "What about some of these (Points exicted at a tank full of 3" oscars)", then dad then said, "well maybe 3 of those for company and this orange fish here? ( 4" Red Devil)". The boy said, ok (Smiles heaps).
I watched them go ask a LFS employe to net them etc, when the boy pointed at a 20G Tank (2.5ftx1ftx1ft). He then said "Thats a hugmangous tank! Its way way way bigger than mine!" The father explained, well some day Im sure you could own a tank like that later on. But for now, your 'BOWL' will have to do for now.
I felt bad for the fate the fish would of had to face, when just at that moment he yelled "Damn, left ma wallet on tha tavee (Televison). I cheered inside and contnued on with my day.
Another story is I was also borwsing at another shop when I when to pick up some algae wafers, fertilzer and brine shrimp when some bloke that must oif been in his early 20's asked me do my fish eat the algae wafers. I said, yeah thats what they are made for. He said, my chinese algae eater doesnt touch them, and just eats the other fish food. I explained that they do not eat algae and heribivoures foods onced they've gotten the taste of meater food. He said then oh, yeah that must be whats wrong. He also said his discus were being suck on at the side by it. I said, they suck 'hickes' on the side of fish when older and aggressive. I explained that those fish do not go together, he said, nah your wrong mate, they come from the same area.
I also asked, what's your water like? He said, err, what do you mean? Its just water. I also asked how big your tank is, he said, ohhh big enough. Me, do you know how much water it holds? Him, bout 40 litres (10G's).
I just walked off and thought, Ugh, Idiot!
