My First Kelberi Batch

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the colors seems to have drastically improved! just wondering, what tank background do these guys stay in? at first i saw white then later i saw plain glass? i was told by another hobbyist that i should keep them in a white tank till their 10" to help bring out the gold colors as they take the coloring after their backgrounds to blend in. i guess ur on hikari pellets from ur first post? mine are :) *so much cheaper then feeders and also less risky*

This is my first Kelberi batch and love seeing them mature. I bought them at a LFS 4 months ago and took a while getting them from live to dry food, but the time spent is well worth it. As you can see I added plants a couple of weeks ago and got the biggest one really stressed out. Took him a while to get back to normal. Wondering how they will turn out when they are fully grown.

I currently have a all black background. I did like it when I had no background. The natural sunlight is awesome but started to have major algae problems since my tank is next to a tinted window. Plus my bass got super stressed when I took the background off. Just from my experience, the gold colors change more due to the lighting it gets versus background. They do love them pellets but **** a ton so gotta watch how much I give them. I feed them twice a day with Hikari pellets. Buy Rosys 1-2 times a week. Way more convenient and cheaper than buying and storing live feeders.
