Dovii Sexing

Yeah I talked to the imperial people and they said there guessing that their doviis come from the Costa Rican Origin. How big would you say your smaller male is. It has a lot more color than mine does. Mine is around 4 inches

He was the smallest of the group I got and probably 3.5" without much coloration when I got him. Now he is about 6.5" TL starting to look much better. This is from Nov 2017.

Those are some nice color on him. The one I will proabbly keep is the smallest of the three as well. What’s the difference between Costa Rican and Nicaraguan

My understanding is that Costa Rican get taller and thicker than Nicaraguan, and have seen post saying that they get a deeper blue. I think color is more of an individual genetic trait. I was guessing that my first fish was Nicaraguan because he was not as tall and blocky as many I see posted, and I really liked his look so I went with Nic. Not to mention I wanted some lyonsi and they were available from the same vendor.

Yeah I was hoping that one origin would have more color than the other. I really want some good colors out of my dovii instead of having a more dominant traited one
