Walmart should have heaters. Something is better than nothing especially in this situation.

Would hold off on the 2-3 10g hob filters. Save ur money as ur filtration needs are more. Manual water changes will do a better job. Wait till the 100g is up and look into ac110 and a canister for biological filtration. That'll be a good combo. This can be researched in the meantime. I know the filtration section has some good stuff to look at.

I'm in Florida. Happy 4th!

Hey guys i was searching the basement for aquarium heaters (cause i always thought i had another one) with no luck. I did find some medication I used to have such as jungle branded Fungus clear. The fizzing tablets. I still believe the fish has fin rot or some sort of disease like that because his pectoral fins are faded white on the ends. The ingredients in this medication are nitrofurazone, furazolidone, and potassium di chromate. The back says helps with hemorrhagic septicemia, tail fin or mouth rot, bloating swim bladder, and fungus. Should I use this and do you guys need photo proof that it might have fin rot? I know you guys all say there is no fin rot but from looking on line and observing the fish, it seems like that may just be the problem. Also the product may be a few years old cause i haven't seen it in a while and the outside was dusty and nasty. Tell me if it should be used, or just standard water change to treat him. I don't want to use any medication that will degrade my fish and kill it cause I have no experience with such products...

If it's old medicine then would never use it. It's loses its effecrivity.

There can be overlap with diseases all the time. The best way is to figure out what happened that may have lead up to it. Sometimes treating blindly happens based on the best assumptions.
Would always be better to get cultures, skin samples, and biopsies. It will likely not be done due to costs and availability.

From the looks it appears to be from trauma. After all it went a couple of rounds with your flowerhorn. Should make the other part of the belly red.

Adding bacteria without knowing is never good. If it's getting better w/o the medication then why mess with it. Plus it'll mess with ur beneficial bacteria.

also could my fish have ammonia burn?
Doesn't look like ammonia burn. Plus there are no ammonia levels. Unless I missed it on prior posts.

okay thats fine, he is swimming well and acting normal just not eating, but i don't think thats a problem cause if I went through that i wouldn't eat either. Here are picks do you see any growth/ recovery compared to the last pics? give me tips and advice please :)
