Incompatable tankmates that will never work. But do anyway (?).

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Im coming clean. My 220 has;

1. Dovii
2. Largemouth Bass
3. 2 Jags
4. Green Sunfish
5. Jack Dempsey
6. Redbreast Sunfish

Believe it or not the Dempsey runs the show. Go figure. He's really the only one who makes waves. The Dovii and Bass seem equally matched for second in command.

It all just goes to show never say never:) I think a lot of these posts go a long way to demonstrating the intelligence of some predatory fish who seem to make a conscious decision to allow smaller and weaker fish you'd never suspect to share their space. Pet fish keeping pet fish:)?

I have several parrots with a jag and green terror other than the jag getting punked all the time by the terror and most of the parrots no problems over year n a half

Lots of people say jardini arowanas can't be kept with other fish, I have a 16" living with a RTG the same size and also a black around the same size. Other tankmates include a 9" tiger oscar and a 6" red oscar :)

10" red devil
9" buttikoferi
6" texas cichlid
8" green terror
2 12" needle nose gar and

2" blue gourami
all lived peacefully in a 125 for quite a long time

ive got 2 spotted gars and one jardini same size 9 inches in a 250 gal tank but i think they go together cuz i raised them since they were 3 inches but that may be the case

Bichirs in their native land eat African Clawed Frogs for dinner but my 6-7 inch Senegal is fine with my two female ACF's. The one is 3.5 inches around and a good 5 or so inches long, so maybe that's why he has never tried to eat them.

I threw eleven tetras in with my oscar and he ate ten of them. The last one has been in there for almost a month and swims around with the oscar. I had a Jack Dempsey in temporarily that tried to eat the tetra and the oscar defended the tetra and chased away the Jack for days.

I had a 75 gallon fish tank with three six inch Goldfish and a large Blackmoor goldfish and a seven inch bluegill and a two inch bluegill that I had running for several years. The bluegill dug out a rock space in the gravel bed and would swim around in the open water part of the tank while the Goldfish would bottom feed around him. He would though push the Goldfish away from his rock nest but he didn't kill any of the Goldfish.
