Man killed by pet boa :/

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think we have some snakekeepers in denial here. If your pet sees you as potential prey, it ought to be locked up as securely as a gun. People with kids and big snakes that arent securely locked away are playing russian roulette. A python got out of his cage and strangled a baby in my area not long ago.

^^The Albino Burm in Florida? That sounds a lot more like foul play than a snake attack. The guy claimed that he put the Burm in a pillowcase, then in its tank, and it got out. WTF??

And the Boa in the article didn't see the owner as food :screwy: How could a 9 foot Boa eat a full grown man? It's not the snake keepers here who are in denial.

true , yet how many more times do we see in the news about dogs attacking kids and others?? why no legislation to ban or make it harder to own dogs?i agree that some snake owners are irresponsible and should take more care in securing there animals , but many more dog owners do as well yet they dont receive any hardship over it .

The difference between a dog and a snake is that a dog that attacks a child is a defective dog, whereas a snake that attacks a child is just being a snake.

The article is all the proof you need to tell her. I has happened ONCE with a boa. 13 times in 30 years for a python.

yeah a 9ft boa saw a full grown dude as prey. right!! this wasnt a 20 foot snake. And i severly doubt it got out and strangled the baby. more like dude was an idiot, let them in the same room unsecured and panicked and said it escaped

You are SO far off, it's not even funny. A snake that kills someone is not "just being a snake". Snakes don't see people as prey items. I have no idea why you would think that they do...

My dad's an ADA (assistant district attourney), and when I showed him the article of the Burm that supposedly killed the kid, he called :bs: I agree.

It really makes little difference what the snakes motivation was, it killed him and maybe it would have choked on him but thats little consolation to the dead guy. Theyre reptiles whose survival instinct drives them to strangle mammals. If any snakekeepers dont have a serious lock between their kids and their pets theyre risking the same fate.

ok dude.
