I think everyone who posts negative or demeaning things in this thread needs to step back and try to assess the situation first. Damage has been done, but with any mistake, a lesson needs to be learned.

i agree... not going to help much to tell him negative things. need to look more to the future of the other arrows and maybe give him some advice on how to keep them alive. he came to mfk to get help not to get harassed....... no offense

highly doubting they will take a half dead fish back.... they will most likely ask for a sample of your water, which would probably reveal that it is not good. sorry for your loss but at least you found out what you were doing wrong before the next two met their fate
water samples wont be to good because it looks like he did a 100% water change. :(

I think there is a difference between being negative and telling the truth. Ideally, the truth is neither positive or negative, but simply neutral -- the truth. I agree that some have been negative, but others have simply been telling the truth, which is what the OP needs to hear.

i guess theres some truth in that, but i think everyone was a newbie at some point.... most people do end up making mistakes, maybe some worse than others but i think some people need to take a few breathes and take it a little easier on some people

people just teach this guy some fish keeping skills. he will learn his leason.
teach what? the questions asked have been answered and no more have been asked. so apparently he already knows what these fish should eat, what size tank they'll need, etc....any advice against what he wants is just met with a well i can't possibly do that

I dont even know if your tank is cycled. I wouldnt feed any of those fish for a few days until they are stable. If you clean or feed or move things around you are gonna stress out that dying aro.

It sounds like your mom is stubborn. She'd rather let fish die than give them up. Its her money, and when she loses it she may rethink her actions. She really needs to go with beginner fish and not jump into these bigger fish that require more care than she can handle.

I would like to meet the staff that sold three arrowana's to someone with a 40 gal.
In regards to trading in, our store warranty won't accept fish that have been improperly cared for, which makes it our repsonsibility to find out if the tank is appropriate and properly established for the fish in question.

In this example if you were insistent on buying the fish against our recommendations it would void your warranty instantly. If your mom won't read the information or listen to you offering her help and information you found then maybe she needs to lose the money she's spending on these dying fish for her to realise something isn't right and needs to be fixed.

I wish you good luck in getting her to realize the error of her ways and hope you can help her realize how awesome fish "keeping" can be.

Hes said it numerous times its his MOM. He is only trying to HELP the fish. Its a matter of his mom being stubborn and ignorant.
