I currently own 2 bichirs in separate tanks. The Senegal is 5 1/2 inches while the delhezi is 4 inches. Would the Senegal be able to eat him?

Should be fine as long as the smaller one doesn’t literally look like a tooth pic. If they are similar girth and both eating the same size pieces of food you should be fine.* I have a 6 inch sen with a 8-9 inch del. del is larger in girth, but both get along peacefully. The sen is a pig.

*The only time I’ve had a poly eat another poly is: My 7 inch moke/1 inch thick, get hungry after living for 2 months with my 2 inch/extremely skinny del. However the del wasn’t really food motivated...I had to hand feed it. Moke was also with a 3 inch/.25 girth Senegal.

Obviously this major size difference was a little risky..... Could have both ended up snacks. Didn’t know the moke would be a blob lol. This extreme size difference did lead to aggression from the moke until she was with similar size polys.

Here’s a pic of them now:

Here’s another pic of my del and sen I took literally two seconds ago. Dec 31, 2017:

Hope this helps.

Are you sure? The sen is pretty thick. The Del is like maybe a little less thicker
If you aren’t sure, you can post a pic. :)

it shouldn't be a problem just make sure they get fed daily at least until the del puts on a little size, The best thing for growth is Poly Miracle Grow also known as Tilapia I cut it in small pieces and run it through a food processor to shred it.
