I’m very annoyed at watching my calories and I’m tempted often to just go back to the way I was but the progress I’ve made keeps me going. Oh how I miss the days of unknowingly eating 3k-4.5k calories and not caring.
If anything I’ve come to realize how everything is high in calories and how annoying it is and how little food I normally would eat I can now eat -_-

And just to make you feel a little better about your cravings, I have a sweet tooth and it drives me crazy. I love chocolate, biscuits and cakes, my missus literally has to hide treats that she gets for the kids.....and I know all her hiding places, i'm terrible.

If it wasn't for the fact that I can burn close to a 1000 calories an hour on my bike (extremely high intensity training, just casual riding about 500 calories an hour), i'd be closer to the 200lb mark than my usual 150lb.

So you can have the odd treat, and imo it's important for your morale that you do. Just go that extra bit on your next workout.

To this day I still wonder what you look like, I’ve gotten a picture of a slightly steroided lean bike rider, am I close?

For me it’s fast food, I could eat 5k calories in a single day without really trying if I just ate everything I wanted from all the fast food places around me if no one stopped me, soda was also a decent problem but since I’ve switched to diets (I’ve found only diet sprite is acceptable) it’s been perfect.

Can you give me an example of your high intensity workout? Something that the average person could visualize.

My “treat” ended up with me eating 2 days worth of food in 1 day, twice within 3 days, no treats for Brian anymore.

Look at a tour de france pro bike rider. Visually i'm a very similar build but fitness wise even i'm a couch potato compared to those guys, lol.

I live in an extremely hilly area so it doesn't matter where I go i'm always in for a good workout. I have a few favourite hills, though why I call them favourites I don't know, they're more like torture hills! Throw a headwind into the mix and it hurts...a lot. But they always say no pain no gain.

I also pick out flat areas and do 5 or 10 minute spells at full gas, though this can get dangerous if the roads are busy. So I tend to go out early on bike rides to keep traffic to a minimum.

But my favourite rides are just the casual ones that build up your base fitness. Very easy and very long. I used to do 100km casual rides regularly but the only downside of spending hours in the saddle is, at my age, your shoulders and neck ache really bad after a while, not to mention your nether regions! And that's with chamois cream!! You may have to look that one up, lol.

Hills suck for running. With the terrain of my neighbourhood I will be fit in no time! Have you ever done the Argus? Both my parents did it some time ago, I should probably also do it some time. Why not :D

I've never competed, even at a very low level. I haven't even done any of these casual mass fun rides that you can enter. I don't even go out on the bike with mates or anything, i've always ridden alone and against my own personal bests.

Just for reference, below are my current trusty steeds. Both Scott carbon fibre. The black/white one is a 2014 CR1 PRO, a racing bike. It weighs about 7kg. The black/yellow one is a 2019 Addict, an endurance model. This one weighs about 9kg.

The former has you in a more "slammed" position for aero purposes, couple this with skinny racing tyres and it can get very uncomfortable on long rides. That's why I got the Addict. It's designed for endurance rides, the riding position is a lot more upright, the tyres are fatter and run at lower pressures than the CR1. It's like taking your favourite comfy armchair out for a ride.

So if I want short and fast rides I use the CR1 and long and casual rides I opt for the Addict.

There is no way that I could run with my knees unless it’s an emergency. It would certainly result in pain and additional damage. Nonetheless I will be out there skating several times a week if the air quality was better.

I still manage to get a lot of exercise working in the boat yard, moving around heavy items and cleaning up my salvaged materials. OK it’s really just as much a junkyard as it is a boat yard at this point. :-)

But I was porking up there during the spring, and I have lost all of that. It’s difficult for me to believe that at the age of 65 I actually weigh 2kg less and have more muscles than when I was 18.

Anyhow I have gotten caught up on a lot of things that I have been putting off in so far as cleaning up the boat yard. I think that now the air quality is getting a little better I might decide to take the motorcycle out. It’s been locked up in my shed for the whole summer.

What's up everyone, how are your goals coming along? I just finished a cut, started at 100kg (225lbs), now about 90 (200lbs). Really have the feeling that if I stay healthy during the coming year I'll be very happy with where I'm at next summer.
