It is good that you breed the fish yourself but not to get into a feeder fish debate but goldfish are not very nutritious to begin with and it only takes one sick one to do your prized fish in.They are more trouble than they are worth in my opinion.
I have raised quite a few kelberi as well as other cichla species and I've found that it is best to get them onto pellets as soon as possible when they are young and small, hence my comment about yours being should have been trained long ago. You pretty much have to offer them nothing else but pellets until they give in.
Kelberi in my experience are very stubborn to take pellets too compared to some of the other species.
You could.I would not worry much about feeding right now but when the fish is better I would stuff the pellets into the chunks but your main objective now should be straightening out that mouth issue.
Gotta get this guy back up to snuff. If it's only hitting feeders would stuff sticks in dead feeders. I will never ever start feeding my fish feeders. Its like smoking. Once hooked hard to get off.
Might want to make sure the lighting is a little dim. I dont think it would hurt to bump up the temp a bit. You do have a heater dont you?

In order to keep a fish that large, in that small a tank, 50% water changes should be done at minimum, every other day, or better, 30-40% every day, including vacuuming and cleaning gunk from the mechanical media of the filter. Otherwise pathogenic bacteria will build up, causing infections.
Goldfish (as said by others) are an very low nutrition food source (as are market shrimp), so in order to get the Cichla adequate nutrients the goldfish should be gut loaded with very high quality, vitamin enriched foods, but even with gut loading goldfish are down to create problems when fed to predatory fish.
