1-2 Fish for a 29 Gallon Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not a fish, but a claw frog could work (it is illegal in your area). Pretty low maintenance and it’s fun to watch.

I would go with small cichlids - Discus, angels, goldfish and the likes all get way too big for a 29. Puffers are good but many lurkers like substrate, and decor is almost necessary since they are inquisitive creatures by nature.

What about a palladarium? Could hold Red-bellied Toads along with some small Minnow-like Fish.
Paludariums are awesome.

An Oscar would be lovely for a 1 fish tank..
This is a 29 gallon.

Figure 8 puffer?

It's brackish but an great fish, lots of personality, and great to interact with.

I would agree with a puffer, but the op wanted something easy. Puffers can be a lot of work.

I dont have a lot of exp, just a couple years with my Figure 8 tank I keep, and honestly its the easiest tank in the house out of the 13.

Monthly water changes, 206 on a 20l gets cleaned about twice a year and never looks dirty, and no live plants cause I let the brackish win that one. I do have access to a lot of snails with keeping a colony though. The snail colony was more work than anything else for this fish.

Easier than I thought then. You’ve got more experience than me on them. I’ve had bad luck with puffers in the past.
