Help Bichir sick :(

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I dont see fin rot. What is your ammonia/nitrite/nitrate ?

If the red areas are clearing up then that's a good sign.

Dont do the hydrogen peroxide. It's fin damage but that's all. Not from fin rot.

Will clear with clean and salt. Just wait it out.

Please do like jaws said and check that water.

Okay I will post a pic shortly (I know I keep saying that but busy with work lol) anyway these pics may help you see if its fin rot or damage...

also the fins are deteriorating to be smaller so I really think its fin rot.
For bichirs how often should I water change and how much? Is 60% good enough or more or less? thanks so much for the inputs :)

Work is a monkey wrench. Do what you can.

I doubt it's fin rot. Probably some injured tissue and slime coat sloughing off. This is probably from the cichlid attack.

Wc about 50% a week but gotta see what ur numbers. If they hold then once a week water changes are fine. If not then increasing to twice a week.

But need those numbers.

We are trying to help you but you gotta help us do that. Do you test your water ?

i have a strip test kit so how do you find exact numbers?
It's not very accurate. There's should be a table on the bottle. The label is doubled over with the table on the inside.
