Help with sump set-up

The trickle is quiet because of the upturned elbow atleast thats how i under stood it.
Id feel more comfortable if someone who has hands on with bean animal helped him i dont want to chime in on something dont have experience building myself.

not many active members talk about bean animal. Maybe herbie is just easier plumbing wise..mhhh

Did tou read the link i posted ? Minr is a herbie.

Not trying to sound like a wise guy but you definitly have to research this just having us answer questions wont really give you thr best understanding of how it all comes together. I'll post some links in a bit

Sorry I'm multitasking and should have elaborated. I have done a bunch of research for both but it seems as though everyone tweeks these things there own way and I would like to try and gather as much information from you guys (the experts) from personal experience. I appreciate your help thanks for the links

There are a ton of videos on YouTube about bean animal and herbie overflows. I just watched about an hours worth and saw some really good ideas. Probably about the best thing you can do at this point. You'll see one or two that you'll want to copy for sure. Plus, seeing them in action will really help you understand how they work.

I did quite a bit of research on the bean animal and unless I'm missing something, the only difference I found between them is that the bean animal has an additional drain that is considered the emergency drain, while the herbie considers the trickle drain as the emergency drain.

Yup you copy anothers members build but make a few changes to suit your needs and imporve the one what was done prior....another member comes along and does the same with your build. Thats the best thing about mfk and fish forums, we get to constantly evolve haha.

And of course ask all the questions you want but the answers would make more sense to you if you had some knowledge of what we are talking about. Man i hounded the other members in this section when i 1st started learning about sumps so its all good bro.

Keep in mind if you hard plumb with PVC, horizonta runs, elbows should also be accounted for. I've read somewhere 1foot per 90* and 1foot per 4foot horizontal are conservative starting points. Don't hold me to the horizontal in terms of accuracy though.
 
I have a Herbie overflow, but I also have a third dry standby drain. Most Herbies use the straight standpipe. The BA typically use the durso for primary and trickle. The third drain is then a straight pipe too.

I needed the room having an internal overflow and weir, so went with Herbie plus dry drain - like Herbie and BA hybrid LOL. The BA is supposedly superior, but I like using less space with the straight standpipes.

My pumps are very quiet and i hear them more than the Herbie. I can see how the trickle could get a bit noisier, when water fluctuates, than the durso trickle on the BA, but it's insignicant for me.

But yes, you tube will help in concept and implementation.
