Some friendly advice.. I would triple the amount of bio (k1 or better yet k3) you have planned. As your stock grows (esp. the stingray) you may find that your bio will be lacking and it's better to start with enough bio instead of upgrading afterwards. Perhaps consider adding an Ultima 2 as backup/supplemental filter. I used to house over 30k gallons of fish tanks... now I have about 5000 total gallons.![]()
Hi and thank you for the advice! I really need it at this stage.
For the ray tank the following will be used (as for now)
- 30 gallons of submerged media, Seachem matrix and sponge, (actual media volume)
- 20 gallon of K1 (actual media volume)
- dual drip tray 13 gallon container volume (mostly for oxygenation)
- roll filter for immediate removal of debris from the water column
- 10% daily water changes
Is this sufficient?
I’ve tried to look up the amount of food rays demand but the info seems hard to come by. This filter setup should be able to handle quite a lot of food but I know the problems with rays osmolation(so?) and their excessive production of ammonia.
Please advice ??
